Sunday School

Sunday School | Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church

Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Christian education and formation is a very important part of our life in the church. For this reason, we offer classes for both adults (Saturday Catechism classes and Learning & Living Our Faith on Wednesday evenings studies) and for our children through our Sunday School program.

Since our children are full members of the church, we want them to participate in the Sunday Divine Liturgy as much as possible before leaving for their classes. They therefore stay with us in the church until just after receiving Holy Communion. Only then do the teachers and students leave for their classes.

Our Sunday School classes are offered for different age groups and are taught by teachers who are both members of our parish and have been trained and gone through a careful background check. Please contact us if you’d like more information or would like to register your children for Sunday School.

As always, we remind parents that the primary responsibility for teaching our children the Orthodox Christian Faith lies with the them. The world does not share our Faith, and try as we might, a 30 minute class cannot adequately convey the truth of Holy Orthodoxy to our young people. It is imperative that we discuss it openly and practice it on a daily basis in our homes and personal lives. We are here to encourage you, help guide you, and reinforce the good lessons that you will teach! May God bless us all and our young people, and grant that they may grow into mature Orthodox Christian.
